Hank The Cat Election Results, Hank the Cat, who challenged former Virginia governors George Allen (R) and Tim Kaine (D) for a seat in the U.S. Senate, lost the race but remains positive that his message was heard.
Hank, who was on death row when he was rescued by Animal Allies, ran on the platform of "Jobs, Animal Rescue / Spay & Neuter programs, and Positive Campaign Reform."
He received more than 6,000 votes.
All of Hank's $16,000 in campaign donations went to animal rescue groups.
"With your incredible generosity and constant support, we have literally saved hundreds of lives - we have given countless critters another chance, innumerable families have added a new member to their clan, and many of us had our faith restored in the potential for positive change in our political system that overflows with negativity and greed," he said in a statement Tuesday night.
"As a citizen of Virginia, I feel it is now my duty to redouble my efforts to make sure Senator-elect Kaine is willing to sign my Animal Rescue Pledge, and I hope you will join me in making sure animals aren’t ignored or forgotten," he said.
Interestingly, on the Virginia General Election results page, Hank is not listed by name, perhaps he's part of "Write-in. " Still pretty good for a cat, don't you think?
