Stamp Price Increasing

Stamp Price Increasing, In 2013, stamp price increasing takes place effect at all U.S. Post Offices. Amid a loss of billions in postal revenue, postage rates for a 45-cent First-Class stamp will rise by one penny.

Additionally, the cost to mail a postcard goes up to 33 cents. The Raleigh Telegram said in a Nov. 18 report that the new hikes in rates are identical to last year's increase. The Postal Regulatory Commission approved the measure Friday.

Death and taxes have been long held as two things one can expect in life. However, a third cog should be added to the wheel of predictability: increases in stamp pricing almost yearly.

Priority Mail Flat Rate service prices increase along with stamp costs. The new postal rates are:

Small box — $5.80
Medium box — $12.35
Large box — $16.85
Large APO/FPO box — $14.85
Regular envelope — $5.60
Legal envelope — $5.75
Padded envelope — $5.95
If there is any consolation to rising postage rates, a new global "Forever" stamp is available for $1.10. It allows for letters to be mailed to any location in the world for a flat-rate. At present, international rates vary. However, the letter cannot be more than one ounce.

The Clarion Ledger says stamp price increasing is an attempt to offset some of the $15.9 billion in revenue losses in U.S. Post Office revenue in 2012.
