The Girl Tippi Hedren, Tippi Hedren survived Alfred Hitchcock while he was alive, and now Sienna Miller is portraying The Birds and Marnie star in The Girl showing audiences what the man she calls “evil and deviant” put her through during the height of her career.
Most people know some of the story of what actress Tippi Hedren was put through at the hands of Alfred Hitchcock while making The Birds, but most of that barely scratches the surface. HBO and BBC joined up for The Girl which shows the bizarre and obsessive relationship that existed between the two. I guarantee that after watching this, you’ll want to pick up a copy of The Birds and Marnie again knowing everything that the blonde actress was put through for that elusive shot of fame.
To everyone else, Alfred Hitchcock was a master genius filmmaker, and for years Tippi Hedren heard that and knew she had to keep her mouth shut if she wanted to remain working in Hollywood. To her, he was an evil deviant that made her life hell on and off the screen. In her own words:
He was evil and deviant, almost to the point of being dangerous. “To be the object of someone’s obsession is horrible. It was a form of stalking. He had my handwriting analysed, he had me followed and it was as if I was being engulfed by him. He tried to control what I ate, what I wore and how I lived. I had to get out of there,” she recalls.
Sienna Miller portrays the actress and mother of actress Melanie Griffith beautifully and Toby Jones plays the imposing director. You can check out the teaser for the film below along with an interview we had done with the actress back in 2005 on her Shambala big cat sanctuary that she dedicated her time to now. The title of the film refers to how Hitchcock referred to Hedren after she refused his advances and took back control of her life from him.
