Man Alive At Own Funeral, Gilberto was believed deceased, after a shooting occurred, and his brother Jose Marcos was asked to identify the body.Marcos went to see his brother, to identify him, the Inquisitr reports. He believed that the man was his brother, and news of the man having been shot spread around the little town.
“The confusion started when news started circulating that a car washer had been shot dead. [...] Police called my husband and told him that his brother had been killed and his body was at the morgue,” Jose Marcos’ wife,Ana Paula, said.
Gilberto and the victim shared many physical features. The pair had even chosen the same profession, and worked at the same car wash in Alagoinhas, police inspector Roberto Lima explained what caused the confusion.
“The two men closely resembled each other and both worked as car washers,” Lima said.
Gilberto had been on a short trip to a nearby town, and he returned to Alagoinhas the day of his wake. The man was shocked to find out from acquaintances that many had gathered to celebrate his passing, in his home.
”A friend of Gilberto’s saw him walking down the street and told him that his family was mourning him. So he went to his mother’s home to let everyone know he was very much alive,” he added.
As Gilberto walked into his own wake, many felt relief, while others were simply petrified.
“Some people fainted and others were so scared they ran away. It was a big shock,” family friend Maria Menezes said, describing the unusual experience.
The man at the morgue turned out to be Genivaldo Santos Gama, who police couldn't supply additional information on.
“I am overjoyed. What mother wouldn’t be after being told that her son is dead and then sees him alive,” Gilberto’s mother, Marina Santana, said. <div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">
