NFL A 'Powder Puff League'

NFL A 'Powder Puff League', Baltimore Ravens safety Ed Reed wants to make it clear that he is not a fan of Roger Goodell's or the NFL's rule changes to allow for offensive glory. In fact, Reed went as far as calling the National Football League a "Powder Puff League."

"It's definitely changing the game," Reed said about the NFL's policy to protect players, via ESPN.com. "It's become an offensive league. They want more points. They want the physical play out of it, kind of.

They want like powder-puff to where you can just run around and score points cause that's going to attract the fans. I understand you want to make money, but bending the rules and making the game different, you know, it's only going to make the game worse."

"All of a sudden the NFL is about to be sued for all the stuff that they haven't protected over the years and they haven't done," Reed said. "Now you want to take it out on us? Nah, take it out on yourself. It's easy for them to do the things they're doing, fining us and make us look bad, like we're the bad guy, when we're not."

If anyone can get away with bashing the NFL, it should be Ed Reed. Whether you like him or not, he will be a first ballot hall of famer and he is one of the best defensive players to ever set foot onto the gridiron. Reed is currently upset with the league because they tried to suspend him for a hit on Emmanuel Sanders in the Ravens' recent victory over the Steelers. Reed appealed the suspension and won.

Whether you agree or disagree with Ed Reed's statement, please share your thoughts in a comment below. We would love to hear from you.

From listening to various NFL analysts, it seems like most people agree with Ed Reed and do not wish to see the NFL become a sport that completely forgets about defense. Unfortunately, we find it hard to believe that the NFL is going to change its stance on big hits at this point.
