Kate Middleton appearance, Kate Middleton will make her first post-hospital public appearance tonight (Sunday) at the BBC Sports Awards. St. James's Palace made the last minute announcement today confirming the pregnant Duchess will be on hand to present an award.
"The Duchess of Cambridge will tonight attend the BBC's Sports Personality of the Year awards at the ExCeL London, where Her Royal Highness will present the lifetime achievement and the main sports personality of the year awards," BBC quotes a Palace spokesperson as saying.
Kate Middleton has not been seen in public since she briefly appeared on the steps of King Edward VII Hospital after a three-night stay.
The Duchess has cancelled a total of four appearances since then including, most recently, "The Hobbit" premiere. Prince William attended the December 12th red carpet event without his wife saying she wished she could have been there.
After cancelling that appearance, it was expected the pregnant Duchess, who has been suffering with acute morning sickness, would not attend any public events until at least Christmas. But she is apparently well enough that her doctors have given her the go-ahead to attend tonight's sports awards.
Princess Kate, as she is often (and incorrectly) referred, will reportedly not attend the entire 2.5 hour live televised event.
Instead, she will arrive in time to hand out her awards. "Kate, according to her office, is keen to show her support to UK sportsmen and women at 'this prestigious event which caps a momentous year'," BBC's royal correspondent Peter Hunt tweeted.
Prince William is not expected to attend tonight's BBC Sports Awards. Sources say he has returned to work in Wales to fulfill RAF duties.
