Huge Asteroid on Video

Huge Asteroid on Video, A huge asteroid's flyby was caught on video, according to a Dec. 16 Yahoo report. Earlier this week giant asteroid 4179 Toutatis buzzed Earth, and radar images captured by NASA's Deep Space Network antenna in Goldstone, California have been turned into a 40 second video of the asteroid's trip.

Earlier this week, the huge asteroid's flyby came as close as 4.3 million miles to Earth. The three-mile-wide Toutatis was revealed in stunning detail. Scientists describe the asteroid's flight through space as a poorly thrown football.

While Toutatis is listed as a potential threat to Earth, it is unlikely to collide with the Third Rock from the Sun any time in the next four centuries. It is possible that this three-mile-wide asteroid could crash into Earth sometime in the distant future.

Have you seen the huge asteroid's flyby pictures or video? If not, check it out to the left. The next time you will have a chance to see 4170 Toutatis buzz Earth will be in November 2069. Until then, you will have to be satisfied with the 40 second video of the massive object.
