SNL Silent Night

SNL Silent Night, Saturday Night Live didn’t start with any jokes last night. Instead, the show began with a rendition of Silent Night sung by the New York City Children’s Chorus. It was a touching acknowledgement of the tragic shooting that occurred at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut on Friday morning. torontosun reported.........

Opening by candlelight, the red-robed youngsters delivered an A cappella version of the Christmas standard, before delivering the “Live from New York, it’s Saturday Night” line that typically opens the show.

Host, Martin Short, who was a former SNL cast member, then opened with a joke-filled rendition of ‘The Most Wonderful Time of the Year.’

“It’s the most promiscuous time of the year. All those hotties about, make your trousers stick out,” he sang.

The rest of the show featured cameos from Samuel L. Jackson, Tina Fey, Jimmy Fallon and Kristen Wiig, and a musical performance by Paul McCartney, Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic. WATCH VIDEO CLICK HERE

The children’s choir returned to join Paul McCartney on stage for a rendition of his own 'Wonderful Christmastime.'
