Mike Huckabee Newtown blame, As previously reported, Newtown, Connecticut was hit by a tragedy yesterday as 20-year-old Adam Lanza opened fire in Sandy Hook Elementary School, killing 27 people and ending his own life.
Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, a Republican, says that only God would have helped prevent this tragedy, however He was “removed” from schools.
“We've systematically removed God from our schools. Should we be so surprised that schools have become a place for carnage because we've made it a place where we don't want to talk about eternity, life, responsibility, accountability?” he says.
I cannot understand if he means that God doesn't help those who do not welcome Him, and lets them get gunned down, or if teaching religion in schools makes for more discerning adults.
Perhaps we are all to blame for the incident, for not advocating teaching religion to children. However, some religions welcome fanaticism and murders for the good of mankind.
Huckabee also makes a point out of shifting the blame for this situation from the lack of gun control regulations, a move with which 3 petition-starters do not agree with.
Last week, I wrote about Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Jovan Belcher, who committed suicide after killing his 22-year-old girlfriend and the mother of his three-month-old baby girl.
He was an adult, a Christian, and yet he went through with the gruesome crime anyway. The murder-suicide prompted gun control debates, as Sunday Night Football's Bob Costas spoke for stricter regulations.
Some countries in Eastern Europe meet both conditions for a non-mass murder-oriented society, according to Huckabee and Costas. Most people do not have access to guns, there is a national religion, and in some areas it is still taught in school.
The result is that no 20-year-old walks in a school or cinema and opens fire randomly, however organized crime grows, and much many are killed in the process. Which type of society is better, you decide.
