Michael David Dunn

Michael David Dunn, A 17-year-old African American named Jordan Russell Davis was shot and killed Friday by 45-year-old Michael David Dunn over a confrontation about loud music coming from the teen’s parked car across from a convenience store in Jacksonville, Fla.

Davis and his friends were sitting in their sport utility vehicle in the parking lot when Dunn and his girlfriend stopped at the store. Noticing the loud music, Dunn pulled up next to them in a car and asked them to turn down the music, according to a report in the Orlando Sentinel.

Jordan and Dunn allegedly had a verbal confrontation that resulted in Dunn pulling a gun and firing eight or nine times. Two bullets struck Jordan, who was sitting in the back seat, as told by Jacksonville sheriff investigator Lt. Rob Schoonover.

CNN reports that Dunn allegedly heard threats from the teens and felt threatened and thought he saw a gun in the teen’s car. He grabbed his gun and fired at least eight shots that killed Davis. Later, it was learned that there were no guns found inside the teen’s car, as the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said.

Jordan Russell Davis was a high school student at Samuel W. Wolfson High in Duval County. His body will be buried in her mother’s hometown of Marietta, Ga. Dunn was arrested Saturday at his home in Satellite Beach on charges of murder and attempted murder. He was denied bond on Monday.
