In an epic clip, the “Homeland” actress snuck up on the “Girls” star while she was chatting with Ryan Seacrest on the red carpet before the show.
I am just so excited because you are my really good friend and I never get to see you," Dunham happily said as the two girls grabbed the mic from Seacrest to engage in their own interview."We met through an old friend, " Dunham explained when asked how the duo met.
The 26-year-old show creator said she would love to cast Danes in something, but she works on Showtime and she works on competing network, HBO.
Danes then referenced the friendly rivalry to the "Romeo and Juliet" story saying, "it's very Capulet and Montague."Also fans may have noticed Danes sporting a shorter hairdo Sunday night, but those who are in favor of her longer blond locks need not to worry, the actress was merely rocking a faux bob.
The 34-year-old starlet went on to win the award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her role as bipolar CIA agent Carrie Matheson on the hit show "Homeland."
Danes won over "Scandal" star Kerry Washington, who was in line to make history if she took home the trophy as the first African-American actress to ever to receive an Emmy Award for a lead actress role.
