Following San Francisco’s overtime loss to the Giants in Sunday’s NFC Championship Game, folks claiming to be 49er backers took to Twitter, taking out their frustration on game goat Kyle Williams.

Or course, there were comparisons between Wilson and other famous sports goats like Steve Bartman and Baltimore’s Billy Cundiff — who missed a game-tying field goal earlier Sunday in the AFC Championship Game, the worst came from an account with the handle @javapasquel.

The tweet said @KyleWillaims—10 “I hope you, your wife, kids and family die, you deserve it.”

According to Mashable.com, Pasquel said on Monday his “account got hacked” and “would never say or think anything like that.”

On Monday, a message on Twitter said Pasquel’s account “doesn’t exist.”

Williams fumbled a punt return in overtime, and it was recovered by Devin Thomas to set up Lawrence Tynes’ game-winning field goal.

RAISSMAN: WILLIAMS A GOAT FROM ALL ANGLES

Williams, the son of White Sox GM Kenny Williams, also let a punt graze off of his knee in the fourth quarter that was recovered by Thomas and set up a Giant TD.

According to Kenny Williams, Kyle injured his shoulder during the third quarter. But the elder Williams said the injury didn’t contribute to either fumble. Jim Harbaugh confirmed the injury Monday.

“He felt he could get the job done. He didn’t. End of story,” Kenny told ESPN Chicago.

Kenny Williams had some strong comments after news of the threat surfaced.

“I’m used to the years of criticism and threats on my life from time to time, but I have to hear about threats on your son’s life while you’re watching TV and it certainly makes you question our culture of sports as it stands,” the GM said.

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Kyle Williams had something of a tough day against the New York Giants on Sunday. In his squad’s most important game of the year, he managed to both muff a punt and lose a fumble that ultimately catapulted the Giants to their latest Super Bowl appearance. And while his teammates and a large segment of the 49ers fan population rallied around him after the fact, some weren’t as warm in sending their condolences.

Here’s a taste of the messages directed at Williams after the game yesterday:
