daniel radcliffe allen ginsberg "Daniel Radcliffe to play Allen Ginsberg, Harry Potter" star Daniel Radcliffe, 22,  will portray poet Allen Ginsberg  in the upcoming film "Kill Your Darlings" . The movie is described as a thriller that will capture how a murder in 1944 draws the great poets of the beat generation  together. It's expected in theaters next year.

Daniel Radcliffe hasn’t been away from the Harry Potter franchise that long, and already he’s got projects aplenty lined up. And the next one promises to be quite interesting.
plans to take on the role of Beat poet Allen Ginsberg in the forthcoming film thriller Kill Your Darlings, according to twitchfilm.com. Radcliffe is set to replace Oscar nominee and Asuncion playwright Jesse Eisenberg, who had been announced to play Ginsberg in 2009 alongside Chris Evans as Jack Kerouac and Ben Whishaw as Lucien Carr. No word on whether Evans and Whishaw will join Radcliffe in the film, to be directed by John Krokidas.

Kill Your Darlings is described as a gay-themed drama about the friendship of Ginsberg, Kerouac, William Burroughs and Carr, which was upended when Carr killed a jealous older admirer, David Kammerer, in 1944. The new film is not related to Howl, the 2010 film drama starring James Franco as Ginsberg and featuring Aaron Tveit as Peter Orlovsky.
Move over, James Franco—Daniel Radcliffe is stepping up to play Beat icon Allen Ginsberg in the 2012 film Kill Your Darlings, reports Twitch. The movie will address the relationship between Ginsberg, Jack Kerouac, and Lucien Carr, who's credited for introducing the pair and who also killed David Kammerer, a man who was either his lover, desperately infatuated with him, or both.
We're glad to see Harry Potter transitioning smoothly from potions to poetry, but who will they cast as Kerouac? Chris Evan was rumored to be eying the part. What about Justin Theroux (OK, maybe not age-appropriate, but still!)?

The director, John Krokidas, is relatively new to the scene, but with producer Christine Vachon attached, who's produced films by Robert Altman, John Waters, and John Cameron Mitchell, Kill Your Darlings looks very promising.
