Prince Harry spends the night in a freezer, Prince Harry is known as the chill, cool royal. But he took it to another level Tuesday.

The 29-year-old spent the night in a giant freezer to simulate the arctic conditions he will face when he treks to the South Pole this winter.

Harry will race with a team of injured British servicemen and women against teams from the USA and Britain. The Virgin Money South Pole Allied Challenge will begin in November and last around 15 days. The teams will trek between nine and 12 miles each day.

True Blood star Alexander Skarsgard will head the U.S. team, while The Wire's Dominic West will lead the British Commonwealth team.

During Harry's 20-hour stay in the freezer, he was subjected to temperatures of minus-31 degrees and wind speeds of 45 mph.

When Harry emerged he joked that it was a cold night's sleep. When asked about the worst part he said: "Going in."
