Natalie Portman Knows Something We Don't Know About A Female Superhero Movie |
In an exclusive interview with SciFiNow, Portman reveals what could be insider knowledge about Marvel's upcoming slate of films.
"There are definitely many strong women, but it will be exciting when there is a central female character which I think is coming—I have heard is coming—and, of course, also a central non-white character will also be exciting. Title characters."
That sounds good, doesn't it? And while I doubt Portman's hanging out in Kevin Feige and Louis D'Esposito's offices, making mental snapshots of every whiteboard in sight, she's most likely spent much more time interacting with and in proximity of all those decision makers than a lot of people that are guessing (like Stan Lee, sweet old Stan Lee). So while this is nothing concrete, far from it, it does bode well.
But Portman seemingly didn't want to knock her fellow Marvel females, making sure that she complimented the Marvel movies for including female characters who possess a wide range of unique characteristics.
"But they do definitely have strong female characters in them," said Portman, "and I think it's a testament to the people who run Marvel, their respect, their just normal human respect for women, the way they want to characterize them; you can tell when men talk to you, as just a person or as a 'woman.'"
"Thor: The Dark World" opens on November 8th, and we can't wait to see Jane Foster continue her affair with her one true love: science.
