Items stolen from Iowa locker room during game against rivals |
Iowa State University police said Sunday that personal items were missing when Iowa players and staff returned to the locker room after the 27-21 victory before a sellout crowd of 56,800.
Iowa State University Police Chief Jerry Stewart, through a department spokesperson, said: "It involved personal property from the locker room and remains under investigation."
Iowa State police said the police report would not be available until at least Monday. No other details were provided.
Athletic directors at both schools, Iowa State's Jamie Pollard and Iowa's Gary Barta, could not immediately be reached for comment by The Register.
But Iowa athletic department officials confirmed to the Register today, through spokesman Steve Roe, "that there were items missing from the Iowa players' locker room and the Iowa coaches' locker room. Iowa State officials and local law enforcement agencies were very helpful once the incident was reported after the game."
The visiting locker room is located on the main floor of the Jacobson Athletic Building, immediately north and adjacent to the stadium. The athletic department "controls the building, and has a security firm," university spokesman John McCarroll said in an email.
