Fluffy feline: Colonel Meow breaks record for the longest fur in the world

Fluffy feline: Colonel Meow breaks record for the longest fur in the world, A cat in Los Angeles has earned a place in the record books for having the longest fur in the world.

The fluffy feline known as Colonel Meow has hair reaching up to 22.87cm. But judging by the look on his face, it appears this moggy is not too happy with his fur coat, despite making breaking a Guinness World Record.

The two-year-old Himalayan-Persian cross-breed lives in Hollywood with his owners Anne Marie Avey and Eric Rosario. Colonel Meow was a rescue cat who was adopted by his owners from the Himalayan-Persian Society.

Speaking about his record-breaking fur, owner Anne said that Colonel Meow has not been 'phased' by his new source of fame until he started reading the book.

'He couldn't take his eyes off of himself. So, I think he likes it,' she quipped.

The furry moggy needs his coat brushed two to three times a week and Anne explains how she grooms him.

'When he lets me, I'm able to get a brush in there every once in while with him. There's so much stuff that accumulates up in his fur that I try to make sure I can brush it at all times. But he has to look his best and so we try and keep up with that.'

Colonel Meow has become an Internet sensation and could certainly give fellow feline star Grumpy Cat a run for his money with his decidedly dour expression and hair-raising coat.
