A Bear Is Running Through L.A. Right Now Pursued by the LAPD, Major bear news in LA today: This morning, the LAPD and animal control officers spent hours attempting to capture a black bear as it roamed through an upscale neighborhood.

The bear chase, which was broadcast live by at least two local news outlets, started this morning when police received reports of a black bear climbing a 50-foot tree near a chuch in LA's Granada Hills neighborhood.

After an hour, the bear, spooked by the helicopters, left the tree and ran away, despite apparently being shot with at least one tranquilizer dart.
