Port Authority Releases List Of Top Toll Violators

Port Authority Releases List Of Top Toll Violators - The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey is outing drivers who brazenly ignore tolls at its bridges and tunnels.

The agency has released a “Wall of Shame,” a list posted online with the names of 37 of the worst violators who failed to pay between $7,000 and $166,000 in tolls and now owe between $30,000 and $1.78 million each. Foye told 1010 WINS that paying tolls isn’t optional and the agency is determined to collect every dime.

The Port Authority identified Oklahoma-based Enterprise Holdings, the parent company of the Enterprise and Alamo rent-a-car chains, as the main offender.

The company has nearly $167,000 in unpaid tolls and a total liability of $1.78 million, including penalties.

Avis Rent-A-Car, of East Elmhurst, N.Y., came in second with $36,391 in unpaid tolls. The company owes the agency $770,429, including penalties.

Port Authority police will be stepping up enforcement efforts to catch toll evaders.
