Alligator at O'Hare Airport captured by airport worker after causing a scare, An alligator at O'Hare Airport gave a few people quite a scare Friday.

However, after it was made public knowledge that the alligator was no more than two feet long, everyone at the O'Hare airport breathed a sigh of relief. According to a report from NBC Chicago today, the alligator at O'Hare Airport was discovered by an unsuspecting maintenance worker.

"I was out there, and a passenger had pointed out that there was an alligator up under here," said Tineka Walker, a security guard at O'Hare Airport. She added, "I looked, I said, 'What?'"

The alligator at O'Hare Airport was found hiding underneath an escalator at Baggage Claim 3. Chicago O'Hare International Airport officials and police are still trying to figure out how an alligator ended up at one of the busiest airports in the country.

"We don't know where it came from or how long it'd been residing in the airport facilities," Chicago Police spokesman Jose Estrada said Sunday. "It's one of those random incidents." According to airport police, an airport worker was able to capture the alligator by using a broom and dustpan.

After the baby alligator was subdued, members from the Chicago Herpetological Society came to take the alligator, which was reportedly in very bad condition. Animal control picked it up from police and handed it over to the Chicago Herpetological Society.

According to the director of the Chicago Herpetological Society, the alligator was in very bad condition. The alligator is expected to survive and will receive treatment. "It was in pretty bad shape," said Jason Hood, president of the Chicago Herpetological Society. "We're trying to get it healthy and find a place for it," he stated.

Although the alligator at O'Hare Airport gave many passengers a brief scare, no one was injured.

However, this story of an alligator at O'Hare Airport could have ended a lot worse."What if a little kid grabbed this, thinking it was a toy? That could do a nasty job," said Bob Bavirsha, who participated in the alligator rescue.

As of yet, no one is 100% certain who is responsible for the alligator scare at the airport, however, a picture posted on Twitter recently shed some light on the incident.

Reportedly, the picture shows a rider on the CTA’s Blue Line, which goes to O’Hare, holding a small alligator which closely resembles the one caught at O'Hare airport.

This incident of an alligator at O'Hare Airport comes just a couple of weeks after an alligator was spotted at the front door of a Florida Walmart. FOX News reported that the 6-foot alligator did not show signs of aggression and took off toward the nearby woods after opting to stay a while at the entrance to the store.
