Wes Welker Concussion, The Denver Broncos’ 27-17 win victory over the Kansas City Chiefs could be costly as wide receiver Wes Welker sustained a concussion in the fourth quarter Sunday.
Welker suffered the injury during a 20-yard catch-and-run play in the fourth quarter. He started to leave and then took a knee.
Despite the hit, Welker returned on the drive and had a nine-yard catch, but did not return to the game following that play.
According to league’s concussion protocol, Welker will be limited in practice this week , meaning he could have a first full practice Friday at best even if he passes a baseline test Monday.
The Broncos play Welker’s former team, the New England Patriots, next Sunday night.
Welker was targeted 10 times in the win over the Broncos’ division rivals, finishing with eight catches for 74 yards. He has nine touchdown catches this season.
