Real Housewives of Atlanta' season 6 premiere: 6 highlights

Real Housewives of Atlanta' season 6 premiere: 6 highlights
Real Housewives of Atlanta' season 6 premiere: 6 highlights, They’re back! The Real Housewives of Atlanta has returned with a premiere that gives just a peek of what’s been going on. NeNe’s married (again), Phaedra’s got a new house and baby, Cynthia’s all about her business, Kenya’s back in town causing havoc, Kandi’s trying to make it work between family and love, and Porsha’s striking out on her own.

What were the most memorable moments from Atlanta’s favorite housewives? Here are six highlights from the season premiere:

1. NeNe and Gregg Leakes: A new life as newlyweds

Fresh from her wedding to Gregg Leakes, newlywed NeNe opens wedding gifts from her affluent friends. Kim Zolciak, her former castmate of RHOA, gives the couple a vase from Tiffany’s, Teresa and Joe Guidice of Real Housewives of New Jersey give Hermes plates. NeNe’s surprised and elated at the gifts she’s received, but Gregg wants her to know: It’s NeNe and Gregg; not just NeNe.

2. Porsha Stewart’s efforts to mend her marriage: A little too late?

You’ve got to give it to Porsha Stewart. After finding out about her divorce along with the rest of the world, she still tried to make her marriage work in the 11th hour. Paying a visit to her divorce lawyer Randy Kessler (the man responsible for divorcing NeNe and Gregg), she’s grilled on details about an upcoming deposition. However, Stewart wants to make a list of ways to fix her marriage. Sigh, if only Porsha had made this list during her first season of taping.

3. Cynthia’s moving on up — with Peter’s help

Cynthia’s The Bailey Agency has moved into a new space. The catch: The building is owned by husband Peter Thomas. Can you say Season 3 all over again? Although Cynthia reveals she’s happy to move, she wasn’t pleased to find out that the space Peter owns was purchased six months before — without her consent — especially since it’s her money that went into the purchase as well. Talk about investing in your marriage!

4. Kandi, Todd, and Mama Joyce: The journey to mend a relationship

Kandi Burruss wants you to know that she’s not engaged to any scrub. Setting the record straight, Kandi explains her frustrations with Mama Joyce’s lack of faith in her engagement to Todd Tucker. Finding out that her mother believes he proposed to her for personal gain, Kandi must break down the communication with Mama Joyce and get her on the same page as her fiancé.

5. The shocking reveal from Porsha’s deposition

After an emotional deposition, Porsha returns to her mother’s residence shocked at how honest Kordell was when he admitted cruel details of their marriage — such as locking his own wife out of his house at times — and finding out that he was not willing to work out what was on Porsha’s list of needs. Her mother, Diane, chimed in for support, citing Kordell as “the wrong damn one” and saying how hurtful it was to hear that Porsha’s ex-husband only visited his wife one time after a miscarriage. Diane also questioned whether Kordell married Porsha just to uphold a certain status.

6. Kenya Moore vs. NeNe Leakes

NeNe tried to avoid Kenya, but things didn’t go as planned. During Cynthia’s event, the two go head-to-head after months of being apart, and both of them have unfinished business to settle. Kenya still hasn’t gotten over her “ex-boyfriend” Walter and is upset that NeNe invited him to her wedding. NeNe is upset that Kenya didn’t come to her wedding. But lines are crossed when Kenya gets a little physical and pulls on NeNe’s ear. This is the beginning of a war between Miss USA and Mrs. Leakes that’s bound to be juicy.
Well, we’re in for quite a season: divorce, strained relationships, and tested marriages and friendships. Will you be tuning in? The Real Housewives of Atlanta airs Sundays at 8 p.m. ET on Bravo.
