Katy Perry had arrived at the Arthur premiere with her playful husband but the minute she left the red carpet at London’s O2 arena leaving Brand to continue the media rounds, he grabbed the glamorous The Queen actress and moved in for the kill.Looking dapper in a swish Dolce and Gabbana suit, the British comedian took Mirren by her waist – who instantly obliged, wrapping her arms around his neck – and puckered up to engage In a lingering snog. The pair even shut their eyes for the moment – surely a sign they had both surrendered to the kiss.

The 35-year-old funnyman – who has recently been slammed for losing his comic edge – proved he was back on form as, according to the Daily Mirror, he later joked: ‘I’m sure Katy Perry will be irritated by that snog.’

Brand and Mirren have developed quite a relationship since working together on comedy Arthur, with him previously describing her as ‘sexy and enchanting.’And it’s evident the 65-old vixen has left quite an impact on the childlike man as he added: ‘I want Helen Mirren to bathe me like a nurse in a nursing home and then she drops the soap and something naughty happens.

‘I love my kisses with Helen. They are so erotic. Right on the Queen’s lips.’The pair kept up their playful charade all night as they posed for photos and Russell even referred to her as a ‘tiger’ in the strapless gown she had on.Mirren did manage to spare some time for her 66-year-old husband Taylor Hackford, with whom she had arrived at the event  – though she reverted back to her usual sophisticated image with him by her side.

But Katy doesn’t need to worry too much as she got her fair share of Russellisms on the red carpet before he turned his attentions to the other leading lady in his life.The Brands arrived hand-in-hand still looking like the picture-perfect Hollywood married couple, Katy laughing at his jokes and tightly hugging him while Russell stared lovingly down at her.

They showed the world another very public kiss – which is turning into a favourite hobby of the pair at red carpet events – as Russell further tried to show he still has his cheeky side by giving his wife’s behind a big squeeze.

Russell’s latest film Arthur is a remake of the 1981 classic starring Dudley Moore and Liza Minnelli. The film has been panned in the US, with one reviewer saying it should ‘put a nail in the coffin of Brand’s career as a movie comic’. But Dame Helen defended him as ‘a tornado of energy who’s also very disciplined’.
