Kelvin Taylor University Of Florida

Kelvin Taylor commits to University of Florida, Belle Glade(FL), Glades Day running back, Kelvin Taylor, committed to the University of Florida Saturday morning, on national television. The class of ’13 recruit measures in at 5’10” 190 pounds.

Taylor broke Emmitt Smith’s state high school rushing record in 2011 when he compiled 9,698 career yards. Adam Gorney, of rivals.com, raves, “Taylor gets tougher and stronger as the game goes on and he really pounds out yards with the best running backs in the country.” Both Florida and Alabama expressed early interest.

InsidetheGators.com Senior Recruiting Analyst, Bryan Holt, said that “some question the merits of his stats given the fact that Glades Day plays in 2A.” Taylor is a four-star recruit. Rivals.com ranks him 111th nationally.

Taylor, who still has his senior year left to play, said “I felt more comfortable at Florida, and I wanted to focus more on my high school career, so I just wanted to get it done with. I also want to enroll in January, so that’s another reason I decided to make the decision early.”

Additionally, he can now help UF bring in more recruits. “I’m going to try and recruit all of them. We are going to try and get this program back up to a powerhouse, back like how it was in ’97 and ’08 in those years and try to win us a national championship when it’s all over with,” Taylor said.
