Demi Lovato tattoos

There’s no doubt Demi Lovato has overcome obstacles in her life, including being bullied as a child and then checking into rehab at age 18 for bulimia and self-mutilation. Fortunately, Demi Lovato has turned her struggles into a positive message for girls all over the world who have experienced difficulties like her own, and in the most permanent way possible.

Many of Demi Lovatos tattoos serve as a reminder of what she has been through in life and represent the stronger person she is now that she has addressed and dealt with her physical and emotional issues. In fact, some of Demi Lovato’s tattoos, including her “Stay Strong” wrist tattoo, actually conceal visible scars she has on her wrists from the years she spent cutting, and the teen star sees this cover-up as a positive and very permanent message to herself and others. We sure are happy that Demi Lovato is on the road to recovery, and we’re also happy she is such a tattoo lover, because we love Demi Lovatos tattoos too! Keep em’ coming Demi!

Back when she was only 16, Demi Lovato got a tattoo on her side as an extremely important reminder to herself. Inked on her right ribcage and accented by two long black and white feathers, Demi Lovato’s rib tattoo reads “you make me beautiful” in script. According to the young singer and actress, Demi Lovatos you make me beautiful tattoo gives her the opportunity to look in the mirror every day and remind herself that she is beautiful, a mantra that helped her get through her struggles with bulimia, addiction and self harming.

In a far less emotional and personal move, Demi Lovato got a tattoo inked behind her left ear at a Warped Tour in 2010. Demi Lovatos feather tattoo features a single turquoise feather and, Demi admits, means nothing to her, calling it “stupid.” Demi had to have the tattoo reworked in June 2011, since the original tat looked more like a leaf than the feather it was meant to be. Seriously, what did she expect from a tat she got in the back of a tour bus?

In March 2011, after spending nearly three months in a treatment facility dealing with “emotional and physical issues,” Demi emerged a more confident woman…with two new tattoos! The Demi Lovato stay strong tattoo that was inked on her wrists serves as a reminder to the star of her fans’ support throughout her trying experience. The wrist tattoos also symbolize the obstacles she has overcome, since the inspirational words actually cover up scars she has from the years she spent cutting.

In keeping with her theme of supportive tattoos, Demi Lovato got a small cross tattooed on her right hand in June 2011. Demi Lovatos cross tattoo is small and simple, but it’s inked on the outside of her hand, right below her pinkie finger, which makes it perfectly visible pretty much 100% of the time. It seems that was the point of the cross tattoo though! According to Demi, she is a devout Christian, and she wants all her fans to be able to see the tat clearly when she is holding a microphone. Talk about sending a message!

During the 2011 Warped Tour, Demi Lovato and her friends Ivey, Hanna Beth Merjos and Lauren Pietra decided to get matching kiss tattoos inked on their bodies in different places. Demi Lovatos lips tattoo features the red lips of friend Ivey, and is inked on the inside of her left wrist. Demi Lovato’s lips tattoo was just for fun and represents her close friendship with the girls, the 19-year-old says, but we think it symbolizes something much deeper as well. Click the picture to find out what hidden meaning her lips tattoo may have.

One of Demi Lovato’s finger tattoos reads “peace” and is inked in a small, script font on the middle finger of her left hand. Demi got her peace tattoo inked about a year after she began treatment for bulimia and cutting, and the tat may symbolize her healing process. It’s not too difficult to guess the meaning behind Demi Lovatos peace tattoo, and whether the peace she desires is in the world or in her own life, we sure hope she gets there sometime soon! She’s been through a lot, its time for some peace and tranquility for Demi Lovato.

In matching tattoos with friend Hanna Beth Merjos, Demi Lovato got a “rock n’ roll” tat inked on her middle finger of her right hand in late 2011. Although Demi hasn’t said much about her hand tattoo, we think Demi is embracing her “rock star” side and acting out as all teenagers do. According to Demi, she’s “done some pretty rock and roll things,” including trashing dressing rooms “just for the hell of it.” She is still a teenager after all, and Demi Lovato’s rock and roll tattoo is probably just another way for her to rebel.

Demi Lovato’s newest tattoo speaks to the difficult journey she has faced in recent years and how she made it out alive. Demi had “faith” inked in a simple and classy arm tattoo, located just below her elbow on her right forearm. Demi Lovatos faith tattoo matches that of a friend she met in treatment, and symbolizes not only her Christian beliefs, but also her faith in herself. “I’ve been through it,” Demi says of her constant battle with bulimia and self-harming. “and I came out a stronger person.”
