Phil Robertson at Louisiana Tech |
"Offensively it was hard to watch," first-year Bulldogs coach Skip Holtz said after the game. "Offensively, I apologize to the people that had to sit there and watch, because it was hard to watch. When you are about 20 percent on third down, and I do not know what we were throwing the ball, but it certainly was not good."
But while the loss is frustrating for Louisiana Tech fans, there were two highlights all college football fans can enjoy. First, former Louisiana Tech quarterbacks Terry Bradshaw and Phil Robertson, of Duck Dynasty fame, were honored at halftime. Robertson, as many know, was the starting quarterback when Bradshaw arrived in Ruston back in 1966.
The game also featured the rare double doink -- hitting both goalposts while converting a field goal attempt. Louisiana Tech kicker Kyle Fischer accomplished this feat on one of his first half field goals.
