Metallica mariano rivera, Hard-rock fans who attended yesterday's Yankees game in the Bronx got a special treat, as Metallica performed their classic tune "Enter Sandman" for pitching great Mariano Rivera, who is set to retire at the end of this season.

Since 1999, Rivera has entered games behind that song and to show their appreciation, the metal band played it on what was dubbed "Mariano Rivera Day."

Yankee Stadium wasn't the only historic New York spot Metallica visited over the weekend. Saturday night, they ran through a strong set of classics at the famed Apollo Theater.
