Phil and kay robertson vow renewal duck dynasty |
Simple and true
It was a touching service, and Phil and Kay spoke simple, real commitments to each other. They mentioned the past and they pledged their commitment to "be here" for the future. It was so touching to hear Miss Kay say that she had loved Phil since she was 14 years old. She was honest when she said that Phil wasn't always nice like he was now, which according to his own accounts of their early years, he wasn't.
Dinosaurs or Darlings?
You might think that two old people renewing their marriage vows in the woods would be corny and silly to the young people watching, but that was not the case, judging from Twitter. One of the most common tweets coming from younger folks was how they wished that they would have a marriage like Phil and Kay's one day.
Many of these kids have never seen a marriage like this that lasted 48 years! In the south, long-time marriages are not unheard of, but as the older generations die out, they are becoming less common. Even grandparents are often divorced.
"Duck Dynasty" is the most popular program on cable television, and part of the reason is that it represents a solid, real family that sticks together and supports each other no matter what. Just imagine that some younger people have NEVER seen this before.
