US golfer Zach Johnson has won the US PGA's eight million-dollar BMW Championship with a six-under par 65 on Monday following Jim Furyk wasting his sixth consecutive 54-hole lead.

Johnson shot a final-round 65 to finish 72 holes on 16-under par 268, two strokes ahead of countryman Nick Watney, who closed with a 64, with Furyk another shot adrift after a final-round 71.

According to Sport24, following his victory, Johnson captured his tenth career title, his first since last year's John Deere Classic, the 1.44 million-dollar top prize and gave himself a chance to win the ten million-dollar tour playoff crown in the season-ending Tour Championship that starts Thursday in Atlanta.

Admitting that it has been an extremely difficult ten PGA seasons following his tenth win at the BMW Championship, Johnson said that the parity on the tour and in the world is second to none, adding that he is hoping to win the title in the future also.

According to the report, World No.1 Tiger Woods, Sweden's Henrik Stenson, Australian Adam Scott and American Matt Kuchar can also claim the playoff title with a victory in the 30-man showdown at East Lake.

The report mentioned that Furyk wasted his chance for achieving a 16th career title and his first since winning the 2010 Tour Championship with a final round failure.

The report also said that Englishman Luke Donald, a member at host course Conway Farms, shared fourth with Aussie Jason Day and Americans Hunter Mahan and Steve Stricker on 273.
