2014 Corvette Stingray Offers High-Tech Performance And An Old Name, The 2014 Corvette Stingray will offer new high-tech performance, along with an old name. For the first time in decades, the American classic will once again drop coupe from its name.

The new Vette hits showroom floors this fall with everything new except two parts. The iconic car will be more compact and more aggressive looking than the outgoing model. True to form, Consumer Reports notes that the Corvette will come with a high base price of $51,000. With more options, consumers can expect to spend upwards of $65,000 for the iconic muscle car.

The magazine praised the 2014 Corvette, calling it “a tight, high-tech sports car.” As a bonus for drivers, performance on the seventh generation Vette can be adjusted based on the driver’s preference and road conditions. Chevrolet already announced that its new Corvette will come with a 460 horsepower advanced LT1 engine. With the new engine, the muscle car can go from 1 to 60 in 3.8 seconds.

The numbers make the vehicle the most powerful standard Corvette to date. Car and Driver notes that the C7, as enthusiasts have dubbed the 2014 Corvette Stingray, will also have a better mpg rating than the earlier model’s 26 mpg highway estimate.

It will come with two active exhaust systems, including an optional dual-mode system, which will increase performance and make the car purr. Chevy will offer two transmission options. One option will be a six-speed automatic, while the other is a seven-speed Tremec manual with four shift gates.

In preparation for its showroom debut around the world, the 2014 Corvette Stingray recently arrived in Europe to undergo technical tests from Chevrolet. The muscle car was driven on several different kinds of roads to test out quality control. Engineers tested the vehicle at test tracks like Dudenhofen and the Nürburgring, notes Motor Authority.
