skyler mornhinweg university of florida

Skyler Mornhinweg visiting the University of Florida; Va. Tech could be next, While Skyler Mornhinweg may wind up sticking with his commitment to Penn State, two other schools, according to sources, are in the mix when it comes to landing the St. Joseph's Prep quarterback.

In addition to the Nittany Lions, the 6-foot-3, 215-pound senior is considering Florida and Virginia Tech. He is in Florida this weekend for an official visit.

Mornhinweg, a three-year starter for the Hawks, was in State College last weekend and, along with about a dozen other recruits, met with new head coach Bill O'Brien. The two spoke one-on-one "for 20 to 30 minutes."

Unless Mornhinweg changes his mind after seeing what Florida has to offer, he is likely to visit Virginia Tech next weekend. The Hokies were among the schools recruiting him before he orally committed to Penn State last July.

So, while it looked as if Mornhinweg was close to firming up his commitment to Penn State in the early part of last week, things are less certain now.

Mornhinweg, who doubled as a free safety and was a two-time Inquirer first-team all-Southeastern Pennsylvania selection, could not be reached for comment.
