new iphone 5 release date, News about iPhone 5′s imminent announcement and launch are already up in the air. With more leaked parts showing up across cyber space, it appears that most sources that confirmed a September 12th release / announcement are going to be right after all.
Amidst all this, iMore reports that the source which first hinted at the September 12th iPhone 5 release date got some more information on the sale of iPhone 5. The source reports that you could probably get to pre-order the iPhone 5 right on the day it is announced: that’s September 12th, 2012.Interestingly, pre-orders for iPhone 4S, which came out in October last year, created a new sort of a record. AT&T alone sold 200,000 units on pre-order within a few hours.
iPhones have long been a cult thing that people have come to be obsessed with. Previous iPhone sales – right after the announcement dates – have skyrocketed to new record-setting levels and the same is expected with iPhone 5 too. Considering a whole new set of features and a new form-factor, iPhone 5 could possibly redefine Apple’s mobile venture.
BGR’s source from within AT&T also appears to confirm this piece of information.
Pre-orders for iPhone 5 would be opened by all the three carriers presently handling iPhones in their arsenal – AT&T, Verizon and Sprint. We’ve heard rumors about other carriers joining the bandwagon but when it comes to T-Mobile and iPhone, we’ve seen nothing concrete enough to report here.
By the way, the iPhone 5 is expected to be released out into the market on September 21st, about a week from the announcement date. If you didn’t pre-order the iPhone in the first few hours of the announcement (and opening of the “pre-order gates”), you wouldn’t be able to claim the spot of being one of those who bought an iPhone 5 on the first day of its release.Rumors of iPhone 5 actually began right after iPhone 4. But Apple chose to make it a totally surprising release. It got us the iPhone 4S, a smartphone that was much like iPhone 4, only with an added feature called Siri, that went on to take the world by storm.
After iPhone 4S, the rumors of iPhone 5 once again began surfacing and right at this moment, they are on full-throttle.
Every Tom, Dick and Harry is speculating about the iPhone 5, bringing some cool concept videos to add to the milieu and getting a lot of iPhone 5 concept pictures. While each image of the proposed iPhone 5 design seems awesome, it took quite sometime for the real designs – or what are largely accepted to be the real designs – to leak out.
After iPhone 4S came, and after a series of amazing Android smartphones that wielded huge screens (Galaxy Note, Galaxy S II and other smarties) the discussion shifted to the display size on iPhone. Would Apple stick to the default 3.5″ screen or would it shift? Steve Jobs had vehemently stated that the 3.5” screen was the best resolution to go for and that Apple would not shift its position on that.
But quite sometime later, after probably seeing that customers were happy with a larger screen, rumors suggested that Apple could probably be looking at a larger display for the iPhone 5.
At first, it was hinted that the screen size would be larger than 4″, then it came down to 3.9″ and finally it settled at 4″ displays after some supposedly leaked parts of the iPhone 5 prototype emerged.
That leak was followed by more iPhone 5 part leaks which sparked even more interest in the iPhone 5 rumors.
Then there was this leak of iPhone 5 sketches from iLab which generated the largest interest and sort of confirmed that the rumors were quite close to the truth. Although we are still far away from any confirmation of any kind – officially or unofficially – reporters, evangelists, tech geeks and quite a lot others believe that the iPhone 5 will look quite close to the mock-ups that have come up so far, based on the leaked parts and the sketches.
