Elderly actors, A couple of Hollywood's favorite male leading actors are showing that age is just a number with the upcoming release of "Last Vegas". Check out the age of the stars of the movie and those of other leading Hollywood actors and actresses who are defying Hollywood's obsession with youth by continuing successful careers well into their retirement years.

Ellen Burstyn

The critically acclaimed actress is still gathering nominations and an Emmy award for her latest work in this TV show. She's known for her roles in this Halloween favorite film and this 2000 Darren Aronofksy-directed film.

Diahann Carroll

Carroll made history when she appeared this 1968 TV show as the first African-American actress with her own TV show . She won a Golden Globe for her performance and was the first African-American to receive a nomination for this award. Carroll went on to star in this popular primetime drama in the 1980s.

Bill Cosby

One of America's favorite TV dads  hasn't appeared on TV in quite a few years , but he is still making people laugh with his stand-up comedy .

Robert De Niro

Some people De Niro's age are enjoying their retirement, however he hasn't slowed down, appearing in at least one film in each of the last nine years. He recently received an Oscar nomination for this 2012 film starring Bradley Cooper.

The acclaimed actor made his film debut in this classic Gregory Peck film and then went on to star in a number of classic films, including this John Wayne film and this classic mob film. His award-winning career hasn't slowed; he recently appeared in this 2012 film.

Clint Eastwood

Known early on for his portrayal of a San Francisco cop in this movie and his list of western films , in Eastwood's twilight years he's known as a respected director for films including this one. He won an Oscar for directing this 2004 film, which also won Best Picture.

Morgan Freeman

One of Hollywood's most sought-after actors, Freeman started acting in the 1970s on a soap opera During the last decade Freeman has appeared in this highly successful franchise, played God , and Nelson Mandela in this film.

Michael Gambon

Gambon might not live as long  as the beloved character he plays in the Harry Potter film series , but he's created quite a career on both stage and screen , and as Philip E. Marlow in this popular British TV series.

Pam Grier

Some hail her as Hollywood's first female action star because she appeared in a series of films in this genre in the early 1970s. Her career was revitalized in 1996 when director Quentin Tarantino cast her as the heroine in this film.

Hopkins has kept a steady acting career  and continues to be a critic favorite for his work, recently portraying a legendary director in this film. News reports confirmed that he recently wrote a fan letter to actor Bryan Cranston applauding his work in this hit television series.

She appeared to be timeless when she starred as Erica Kane in this long-running soap opera that was canceled in 2011 after 41 years.

Christopher Plummer

Fans of this beloved 1965 musical know Plummer from his role as Captain Von Trapp . In 2012 he became the oldest person to win an Academy Award for best actor for his work in this film.

Sidney Poitier

One of Hollywood's most respected actors for his groundbreaking films, including this one and this one, Poitier was the first African-American to win an Academy Award . He now focuses his attention on being an ambassador for his home country to Japan.

Robert Redford

The successful actor and director  continues to add to his long career, he's currently starring in this survival movie that's getting rave reviews and is generating early Oscar buzz. Redford also started this popular Utah film festival.

Omar Sharif

The Egyptian actor rose to fame when he starred in this 1962 epic film, and is widely known for this 1965 film. In addition to his acting career he's also considered a champion player of this game, he even has his own computer game. Sharif continues to act in French films and recently appeared in this film.

Smith's portrayal of the Dowager Countess on this hit British series is considered by many as one of the highlights of the show . She's also known for her role in the “Harry Potter” series, playing this character and recently appeared in this movie with other senior actors.

White has been acting for decades, including in this hit TV show, but her popularity has skyrocketed in the last few years spawning this practical joke series, and a starring role on this sitcom. She was also the oldest person to host "Saturday Night Live" in 2010 .
