Bill Cosby U.S. Navy, Actor and comedian Bill Cosby was honored Thursday for a lesser known role: Navy sailor.
Cosby was named an honorary chief petty officer today. At 73-years-old, Cosby joked with the audience at the Navy Heritage Center: "this gives me a chance to go back to life in my Navy days and pretend."
After fond remarks from Naval Officers, Cosby entertained the crowd of officers, press and guests -- with stories of his service as Navy Hospital Corpsman from 1956-1960 and what he has learned from those experiences.
Cosby's uniform was bestowed upon him by the Secretary of the Navy, Ray Mabus, and Master Chief Petty Officer Rick D. West.
