naomi watts as princess diana

Mother and son: Naomi Watts gets to grip with Princess Diana's maternal bond with William, Naomi Watts has embraced her maternal side as she acted her first poignant scenes as Princess Diana opposite a young Prince William.

Having played the tragic Princess at various stages of her life, the Australian actress faced her most challenging scenes yet, re-enacting the emotional bond between the future king and his mother.
Young, up-and-coming British actor Laurence Belcher bears a striking resemblance to the Prince, who sadly lost his mother at the age of 15.

The pair have been pictured acting out an emotional car scene where Diana embraces her son, delving into the strong relationship that the Princess had with her two boys.
The actor playing the young Prince Harry is yet to be seen but is expected to feature in the film although the story revolves predominantly around Princess Diana’s relationship with Dr Hasnat Khan.
The blonde A-lister was once again the spitting image of the late Princess, in her trademark navy blazer, tight blue jeans and high court shoes, evoking her timeless elegance.

Naomi has two sons of her own, four-year-old Sasha and Samuel, three, so is clearly able to relate to a mother’s bond with her boys and understand the strain of being away from them for long periods of time, due to filming commitments.
The British born star, who will play another blonde icon, Marilyn Monroe, in forthcoming biopic Blonde, is currently in Italy for the Venice Film Festival with long-term partner Liev Schreiber.

The loved up couple, who can’t seem to keep their hands off each other, have been enjoying a little alone time in the sunny city, and will be joined by a host of famous faces over the weekend.
Although she’s still filming in London, Naomi took a well-deserved break to see the sites of the Italian city and catch the screening of Liev’s film, The Reluctant Fundamentalist.
