Flavor Flav is finally putting his name to good use. The rap icon is opening a new fried chicken restaurant, “Flavor Flav’s House of Flavor,” today in Las Vegas.

“This red velvet waffle has been making plenty of noise. I’ve spoken to people who have [eaten] the red velvet waffle and they said this thing is totally phenomenal, out of this world, man.”
Flav still hasn’t tried his waffle, but that doesn’t mean that the rapper isn’t involved with the restaurant. The fried chicken, for instance, is made with Flavor Flav’s personal recipe. Flav said:

“Well, first of all it’s the seasonings that I use. And second of all, it’s the way that I fry my chicken. If you take Church’s Chicken, Kentucky Fried Chicken, Popeyes’ chicken, you gotta know their secret is the breading that’s around the chicken. If you peel that breading off, you may taste some of the seasonings from the breading, but it’s really like boiled meat. Now, the secret with my chicken is I season my chicken first real good, then I send it to straight to unflavored flour, and I let the seasonings from my chicken season the flour when it’s fried, that way when you bite into my chicken, you get that double flavor explosion … Mine is double good, theirs is singly good.”
How can you argue with double good chicken?

Flavor Flav’s House of Flavor is take out only, so you won’t be able to sit down for a piece of fried chicken with your favorite reality star. But you may be able to get a picture or an autograph as Flav said he’ll be on hand during the restaurant’s opening.

Flav said:

“I will also be taking pictures and signing autographs to people who come and purchase the food… And upon leaving the restaurant, they get a picture and a signed menu.”
And in case you were wondering, yes, Flavor Flav is hoping to turn the Las Vegas restaurant into a reality show. Flav, who has already talked to a few producers about a new show, said:

“I want to have me and some of my friends in the restaurant, snapping jokes. I just wanna keep people laughing. I wanna bring some good humor back to television.”
Are you a fan of Flavor Flav? Would you watch a show about Flav cooking fried chicken?
Rapper/reality star Flavor Flav is back in the restaurant business as his Las Vegas fried chicken restaurant, House of Flavor, opened its doors yesterday. Flav's previous restaurant, Flav's Fried Chicken, opened in Iowa last year but shuttered a few months later due to a management dispute. (The two restaurants are unrelated.) But one little failed restaurant wasn't going to stop Flav, who went to culinary school in the 70s before becoming famous with rap group Public Enemy.

The restaurant will serve Southern soul food, with fried chicken and red velvet waffles as their specialties. Yelpers, so far, approve; to quote the one review the restaurant has received thus far, "Yeah, boyeee!!!" Also, coincidentally, today is Flav's birthday, so happy birthday to him. Here's a local news report of the opening:
