Russell brand divorced katy perry via text, Katy Perry has spoken candidly with Vogue about her relationship with comedic actor Russell Brand, shedding some light as to why she and the funnyman called it quits after fourteen months of marriage -- and the decidedly impersonal way he decided to end it.

Perry sites the touring atmosphere as one of the main reasons her and Brand had problems, saying her ex-husband didn’t like the "atmosphere of [Perry] being the boss on tour."

"I felt a lot of responsibility for it ending," said Perry of her divorce. “But then I found out the real truth, which I can’t necessarily disclose because I keep it locked in my safe for a rainy day. I let go and I was like: This isn't because of me; this is beyond me. So I have moved on from that."

Regardless of the issues that transpired between the two, Perry also praised Brand in the interview for being a "very smart man."

"I was in love with him when I married him, [but] let’s just say I haven’t heard from him since he texted me saying he was divorcing me December 31, 2011," said Perry.

Additionally, she touched briefly on her relationship with singer John Mayer, admitting that she was and still is "madly in love with him."

"All I can say about that relationship is that he's got a beautiful mind. Beautiful mind, tortured soul." said Perry of Mayer.

Perry also touched briefly on her much anticipated follow-up album to 2010's "Teenage Dream."

Though the pop sensation is keeping tight lipped on what’s in store for album three, she did let it slip in Vogue’s new interview that she is about "halfway through" with completing it.
