Mia Love Biography

Who is Mia Love? Biography of Ludmya "Mia" Bourdeau Love (born 1975) is the mayor of Saratoga Springs, Utah, and the 2012 Republican Party nominee for the United States House of Representatives in Utah's 4th congressional district. She will face Democratic Rep. Jim Matheson for the seat in the November 6, 2012 election.

After Mia Love spoke during the GOP convention this week, interest in the aspiring congresswoman was sky high. Love, 36, the mayor of a small Utah town, is running for Congress. She is the daughter of Haitian immigrants, a converted Mormon and the person who pundits are saying could help Mitt Romney secure additional votes from the black community.

Rising GOP star Mia Love glides into the spotlight at convention, But by the end of the Republican National Convention, she could be, after delivering her breakout speech Tuesday evening in Tampa.

Her profile and backstory alone have made her a compelling presence in the conservative movement. She is a first-generation Haitian-American, a Mormon and a small-town Utah mayor. Love, who is black, is also running for Congress in mostly white Utah. If elected, she would be the first black Republican woman ever to serve in Congress.

In her address Tuesday night, the mayor of Saratoga Springs presented herself to the nation as the embodiment of the American dream -- and touched on themes of self-reliance, small government and fiscal responsibility.
