Bethany Arceneaux charges

Bethany Arceneaux charges
Bethany Arceneaux charges, Bethany Arceneaux is recovering at home with her family after the frightening kidnapping by her ex-boyfriend that almost killed her. KATC shared the details on Nov. 10.

Arceneaux was abducted by her son's biological father last Wednesday night in Louisiana. She was missing for two days, and her family managed to find her being held captive by Scott Thomas in an abandoned house. Arceneaux's uncle shot Thomas as Bethany was being stabbed.

Despite multiple stab wounds, Bethany Arceneaux is expected to make a full physical recovery. Though her 2-year-old son was with her at the time of the kidnapping, he luckily was left behind and was safe. A bystander was able to grab him and keep him until family arrived.

KATC reports that during the time Bethany Arceneaux was gone, Thomas called her family and told them to take care of the kids because he was going to kill both Bethany and himself. Though police had searched the area where Thomas' car was found, they did not find them in the abandoned house. The family apparently got a text indicating they were still in the area, and eventually found the home.

As the family got closer to the house they heard Bethany scream as Thomas was stabbing her. He apparently told her that he was going to kill her as soon as the family kicked in the door. When the family entered one fired a warning shot, but Thomas continued stabbing Arceneaux. That's when Bethany's uncle fired several shots at Thomas, eventually killing him.

Police have not filed any charges against the man who shot Scott Thomas, and it seems unlikely any will be filed. The District Attorney will review the case, but it is expected that Bethany Arceneaux's uncle was covered by the state law indicating that homicide is justified if someone's life is in danger.
