Jerry Jones: ‘We’ve had a very successful off-season’ and Jason Garrett gets a lot of credit

Jerry Jones: ‘We’ve had a very successful off-season’ and Jason Garrett gets a lot of credit, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones kept his postgame interview session about as short as he possibly could following Thursday night’s preseason finale at AT&T Stadium.

Jones said he wanted to be quick so he could go over to the Houston locker room and say hello to former Cowboys coach Wade Phillips. Jones usually talks to former players and coaches before the game but he didn’t get a chance on Thursday.

However, Jones stayed long enough to explain what he told the team after their 24-6 loss to the Texans.

“I just said my little something to the team, principally to the ones that won’t be on the roster,” Jones said, referring to players that will be cut when the roster is trimmed to 53. “I told them how much I personally appreciated their hard work, no matter if they were here a week or no matter if they have been here through the entire off-season, we got a lot of work, and we did.”

Jones then added how he thought the team took advantage of their five preseason games and training camp work in Oxnard, Calif., Jones also mentioned how that included significant changes on offense, defense and special teams.

“Jason Garrett, he gets a lot of credit for having put a lot of that together and managing that,” Jones said. “We’ve had a very successful off-season.”
