Serial Killer Found Dead

Serial Killer Found Dead, A serial killer was found dead in his jail cell in Alaska on Dec. 2. According to NBC News, Israel Keyes committed suicide while awaiting trial for a murder-kidnapping which he confessed to authorities.

While locked up, Keyes also admitted to several other murders but his death will prohibit justice being served.

Aside from admitting that he kidnapped and killed 18-year-old Samantha Koenig earlier this year, Keyes also told investigators that he "killed other people and that there were bodies of up to four other people in Washington state, as well as a body disposed of in New York state."

After the serial killer was found dead, FBI officials released information about him, such as what he confessed and what crimes he admitted to. According to Anchorage Police Chief Mark Mew, Keyes "was very, very sensitive to his reputation. As odd as that sounds, we had to keep things extremely quiet in order to keep him talking with us."

Keyes' crimes date back over a decade and it will take years to fully investigate them and to close some cases following his death. Despite admitting to other murders, Samantha Koenig's body was the only one found. Many of Keyes' victims were not located where he said that he dumped them.

When a serial killer is found dead, there are a lot of loopholes to fill. In many ways the FBI is fortunate that Keyes confessed to so much. This should aide them in finding answers to some mysterious murders in the past.

As with many rampant killers, Keyes was not sorry for any of the murders, this according to assistant U.S. Attorney Kevin Feldis.
