Mike Trout robbed

Mike Trout robbed, I think it’s safe to say that the Gold Glove awards are easily the worst awards in all of baseball.

Not only are they mostly earned by reputation, but a player’s hitting statistics matter more than it actually should. Surprisingly, the American League Gold Glove awards weren’t as ridiculous as most seasons; however, there was one glaring omission: Los Angeles Angels centerfielder Mike Trout.

I’m sure this won’t be the only reward Trout will lose out on – - MVP being the other one, although that won’t be announced until the middle of November. But him losing out on the Gold Glove award is completely ridiculous. First off,

Adam Jones isn’t even a good defensive outfielder. I hate UZR. I think it’s an extremely faulty statistic for an individual season, but Jones has been a negative defender in his last four seasons. Considering Jones has been below average for four seasons, one can easily draw the conclusion that he isn’t that good.

Trout, however, is not only the best offensively in all of baseball in centerfield, but he’s also the best defensively. Did the voters miss the countless home run robberies Trout had over the course of the season?

Do they not realize that range is essential for a centerfielder?
I’m sure Trout will be a 10x Gold Glove winner when it’s all said and done, but it’s just annoying how bad these awards are year in and year out.
Well, at least Derek Jeter didn’t win one this year.
