bob barker banned from price is right

Bob Barker ‘Fine’ with ‘The Price Is Right’ anniversary show snub, Bob Barker, 88, was the host of “The Price Is Right” for 35 years, but producers did not ask him to participate in the popular game show’s 40th anniversary celebration.

“They chose to ignore me, which is fine,” Barker said in a statement. On Tuesday morning “The Price Is Right”, television’s longest-running game show, aired a 40th anniversary show which featured returning contestants from the past four decades. Bob Barker was shown in several clips, including his first appearance in 1972, but was not invited to appear or attend the taping of the anniversary special.

“They haven’t even offered me a DVD,” Barker said in an interview on Tuesday.

Asked why he thought he was excluded from the “The Price Is Right” 40th anniversary celebration, Barker said, “Because I have been critical of them giving away prizes that I consider inappropriate.”

Barker complained to “The Price Is Right” producers for awarding tickets to SeaWorld and the Calgary Stampede. Both organizations “are notorious for animal abuse,” Barker, a longtime animal activist, said. During his time as host of “The Price Is Right”, Barker also asked producers to stop giving away fur coats and leather jackets, and they did.

Even though Bob Barker insists he is fine with not being included in “The Price is Right” 40th anniversary show, he did say, “When you celebrate a 40th anniversary, you would think you’d have the fellow who did the show for 35 years there.”

Bob Barker was replaced as host of “The Price is Right” by comedian Drew Carey in 2007.
